WHAT WE DO

Detect & Resolve Clashes
Before Construction Begins

Clash detection is a critical part of the integrated BIM modeling process. The clash-detection process identifies where the independent models clash with each other- finding where elements from one model overlap the elements of models from other architect-engineering design disciplines.

We provide clash detection and report generation services for each model – highlighting the number & types of clashes, and the details of each clash location among different trades|disciplines- Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Sprinkler, and other building management systems.

Clashes We Detect & Report

✓ Hard Clashes
✓ Soft Clashes
✓ Workflow Clashes
✓ Duplicate Elements
✓ Near-Miss / Proximity Issues
✓ Gravity Violations
✓ Egress & Accessibility Issues
✓ Fire Rating Penetrations

Detect Conflicts Early - Before Construction Begins

Clash detection is the core of BIM coordination, shifting the problem-solving from the construction site to the virtual environment. We identify physical interferences, clearance violations, and workflow issues between architectural, structural, and MEP models before ground is even broken.

What Every Clash Detection Report Includes

Clash Count Summary

Total count + breakdown by discipline pair and severity level.

Screenshots & Viewpoints

Every clash has an attached viewpoint image for easy identification.

Clash IDs & Status Tracking

New / Active / Resolved / Approved status for every issue.

BCF Format

Industry-standard BIM Collaboration Format file for Navisworks, Revit & BIM 360.

Excel Clash Log

Full spreadsheet with clash ID, type, location, discipline pair, and status.

Recommended Resolutions

Practical resolution notes for each identified clash.

How We Configure Clash Detection

• Tolerance Rules

Hard clash: 0mm tolerance. Soft clash: 25–50mm clearance zones. Applied consistently across all tests.

• Discipline Pair Tests

Separate clash tests created for each discipline pair (e.g. HVAC vs. Structure, Plumbing vs. Electrical) for organized, actionable results.

• Intelligent Filtering

Known acceptable intersections (rebar through concrete, bolt heads, etc.) are filtered to eliminate false positives.

• Model Preparation

Unit and scale mismatches between discipline models are resolved before any clash test is run.

The Cost of Not Using BIM Clash Detection

"Studies show BIM clash detection saves $10–15 for every $1 invested in pre-construction coordination."

"Undetected clashes discovered on-site are estimated to add 3–10% to total construction costs."

"A typical mid-size commercial project has 500–2,000+ potential clashes before coordination."

Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can you deliver a clash detection report?
Timeline depends on the number of discipline models and project size. We provide a project-specific timeline at briefing. Contact us to discuss your project schedule.
What output formats do you deliver?
We deliver clash reports in BCF format (for Navisworks, Revit, and BIM 360) and Excel format. All clash viewpoints are included as screenshots.
Can you work with non-Revit models (IFC, DWG)?
Yes - we work with IFC files, DWG-based models, and NWC/NWD files from other platforms in addition to native Revit files.
How many clash tests do you run?
We run separate clash tests for each discipline pair combination, ensuring organized and actionable results by trade.
Do you help resolve the clashes you find?
Yes - in addition to detecting and reporting clashes, we provide recommended resolutions and can support the coordination meeting process to achieve a clash-free design.
